the monsters of global warming and climate change are round the corner. the whole world is going gaga over go-green. cleaner (read greener) actions being the need of the hour, OSRAM india has taken it quite literally through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in reducing CO2 emissions.
in this project OSRAM India will distribute Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) to people falling in the low income group bracket who do not have the purchasing power for these lamps. OSRAM will distribute up to 2 million energy-saving lamps to such households.
in the first phase of the CDM Visakhapatnam Project, the districts of visakhapatnam in andhra pradesh, sonepat and yamuna nagar in haryana and pune in maharashtra have been chosen for distributing OSRAM CFL lamps. gradually the program would cover other districts.
the total energy saving from these 3 projects will amount to more than 1.3 million KWh and over 1 million tons of CO2 savings through the project duration.
OSRAM is the world’s first lighting manufacturer to receive approval from the UN for a CDM for reducing CO2 emissions - more
power to such green movements!

We at Desmania Design also try to make the products aesthetically green through our eveolved product design processes. We understand that the whole idea has to be communicated through things people can see, touch and feel. Basically designing consumer touch points.
The whole idea of going green is aware to the world but it need to be communicated effectively about the application & implications to the environment and ones one life.
Thanks,

Thats a good initiative.
I would like to add that I belong to Punjab, India and here we have also started an initiative against Global Warming i.e.
We have started Giving Plants as “Prashad” in Gurudwaras (Temples). I would say the response is very very good.
If this is initiated across the globe.. I think we can fight global warming.
Thanks,
