Marcel Hoedeman of DAF Trucks NV doesn’t look like Eli Goldratt, author of The Goal, but his presentation provided strikingly similar conclusions to Eli’s book.
DAF Trucks is a subsidiary of PACCAR Inc. and the worldwide quality leader in the design and manufacture of premium light, medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. DAF Trucks used our Tecnomatix software to:
- analyze throughput, cycle time and work-in-process (WIP)
- predict consequences of volume changes
- optimize batch sizes.
In doing so and isolating certain processes, they realized they could nearly double output on one particular product line. Their project would have been a great case study for Eli’s Theory of Constraints.
In this video clip, Marcel highlights why they chose plant simulation software from us and reviews the conclusions they came to from the analysis.
(BTW, found these cool coloring pages on DAF’s website - for those of you with small kids or those of you who are kids at heart.)
