Man oh MAN! When you design 1,000 engines per year - each of which has about 50,000 parts and 130 variants - you have a lot of knowledge to manage. Christian Rasmussen, project manager at MAN Diesel A/S, presented this morning on his company’s product configuration built on Teamcenter to manage the engineering workflow. In the video clip he describes the complexity of its 2-stroke diesel engines the company designs as well as the main challenge Teamcenter product configuation addressed.
The goals of the project were:
- to increase quality and speed by automating processes
- make knowledge more accessible
- convert tacit knowledge into explicit
- increase innovation through sharing knowledge
With decentralized workforces, it is increasingly critical to centralize knowledge.
