Joan Hirsch kicked things off by presenting the development plan for the next 2 major releases of NX. (there were lots of live demos too!)
The Key goal for NX is: “Deliver you tools that increase your productivity, shortening common workflows and enhance downstream integration through your entire process”
Focus on Productivity
• Improvements in Synchronous Technology, for more efficient design creation and modification
• Improved PLM Integration (Active Mockup, Supplier & Partner collaboration, Teamcenter inside)
• Improved reuse of design knowledge with automatic validation
HD3D
• Will help you comprehend the big picture with 3D presentation of wide range of PLM data
• Immediate access to details using on screen navigation & interactive tagging
• Efficient report generation & issue processing with visual lists
HD3D also looks cool! So, stay tuned you’ll see a lot more when NX 7 is announced.
Integrated Design and CAE
• Synchronous Technology
• Topology, Connections, Materials, etc…
• Best practice automation
Productivity increases for CAM
• NX CAM to SINUMERIK Controller
• Parallel NC Processing
That’s a high level overview of the key items from day 1. There were a LOT of details that I can’t cover in this post (Synchronous Technology 2, NX on Mac OS, PTS, NX Student Edition, Drafting Plus, HVAC, and much more…)
