NX Design Freedom powered by Synchronous Technology makes what-if studies very easy. In Part 4 of our series, we show how CAE users can delete, modify, and move features without needing an in-depth knowledge of how the design geometry was built. A single click of the mouse is all that is needed to update the analysis model.
Analysts often perform “What if” scenarios on parts to see how design changes will impact part performance. For example… Analysts typically have two options available to them to make the necessary geometry and mesh changes:
1) DIY - Make the geometry themselves.
This can be difficult in most FEA standalone tools since geometry modification commands are limited and underpowered.
2) ECO - Ask the designer to make the changes
This can also be very time consuming in traditional CAD systems since it requires a complete new cycle where the analyst will then need to re-import data into the finite element preprocessor and completely redo all previous geometry cleanup and meshing steps from scratch.
However, analysts using NX Design Freedom powered by Synchronous Technology can easily perform “What if” cases themselves, as shown in this video example:
This enables CAE analysts to easily do it themselves.
Also note that each change only required a single command. The CAE analyst doesn’t have to worry about breaking the CAD part – as all Synchronous Technology steps are tracked and added to the part feature history.
