Dirk Pensky, Head of PLM Systems and Processes from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG talked about the benefits of an integrated CAM system using NX and NX CAM. They are using multiple machine tools from different vendors like Hermle, Heller and Chiron and several CAM systems for NC programming. This increased the number of their IT-systems.

The IT strategy of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen is a simplified architecture and data management with the best-in-class CAD integrated CAM system. In addition they want to use only one CAM system for all technologies (drilling, milling and turning) with a close-to-reality NC simulation for all NC programs. To achieve this precise NC simulation Heidelberger Druckmaschinen is using the VNCK (Virtual Numerical Controller Kernel) which is the original SINUMERIK 840D controller running on a PC.
