Forget Saturday mornings of mind-numbing cartoons not based in reality. Tony Lockwood noted on his blog that Reality TV has finally got it right. He talks about a new reality TV show where engineers attempt to correct Wile E. Coyote’s flawed engineering contraptions. It’s Man vs. Cartoons. Or Animation Meets Actuality.
It reminds me of some interviews with engineers at a previous employer where they described their favorite toys when they were kids. As you can imagine, those you could take apart and put back together – or just break and see if you could re-engineer – were favs.
So if that describes you, check what the engineers at New Mexico Tech came up with to help Wile E. Coyote in this six-episode cable series. Here are some of the trailers: Pendulum Swing
Also check out Scott Wertel’s blog post on SAE Collegiate Design Challenges about what he did one summer during engineering school. Their team won first place and set a new world record!
As always, do not attempt these at home!
