Get to the point!

May 25, 2009 - 02:23 PM

There are few names that are so well known that it doesn’t matter what country you visit, everyone knows the name. Microsoft is one of those names.

The SharePoint platform has been so wildly accepted as a premier business productivity solution by not only our customers, but mid-sized companies in general.  It should come as no surprise that in the Solid Edge with Synchronous Technology 2 release we are announcing Solid Edge Insight on the latest Microsoft SharePoint platform.

With this release, Insight is now available on Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. We first introduced Solid Edge Insight on SharePoint in 2001 and to date, over 1000 customers have implemented its proven vault, search, and workflow management capabilities.

I’ve been involved with many INSIGHT installations and have seen first hand that INSIGHT brings the power of managed CAD to the users. Now the question of when will INSIGHT support WSS 3 and DOTNET 3 has been answered. This is simple - INSIGHT is right.  For those that want to design and manage their work - get your Edge on…

benefits? where to start…too many to chat all at once.
Most design-based groups need PDM in the worst way..why? We’ve been using CAD for so long, what to do with all these freakin’ files?! and where the heck is widget.par located, anyways?? Enter the “cubicle to cubicle shout” search process….and with every user/group having their innate and accepted process for using Edge, most aren’t thrilled about change to that process/habitual practice. Fine! INSIGHT allows users to continue use of Edge individually and concurrently as they have been. Sure- it offers new tools that are productive and easy to use, but the bottom line is that you don’t need to change how you use SOLID EDGE - which is as un-obtrusive as it can get! Users actually manage data and improve their process for locating files just by using Edge. Thus, user acceptance is high, INSIGHT is then embraced by the group, ROI comes fast to the company for payback and all’s good.

David - good to see that the customers you have implemented are getting real benefits from Insight. We are excited about the ST2 release of Insight running on WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 - this should give both new and existing users even stronger capabilities to integrate their design data and processes with their other business processes.

Perhaps you could give us a few more specific examples of some of the benefits you have seen at the customer sites you have worked at?
